Economist and New York Times columnist Paul Krugman to discuss the future of health care. Thursday, March 29, 2007

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY - Noted economist and New York Times columnist Paul Krugman will address "The Future of Health Care" in a free public lecture Thursday, March 29, at 7 p.m. at Dutchess Community College in the James and Betty Hall Theatre, Dutchess Hall.

[Left: Paul Krugman] Krugman's talk will focus on such questions as: Where do we stand currently with health care in the U.S. and where are we going? Why do other advanced countries manage to spend so much less while getting better results? Why is the price of health care so high and what do we get for all that money?

Krugman's lecture is sponsored by the Handel Family Endowed Chair at Dutchess Community College, Worth Publishers, the Dutchess Community College Political Science Club, and the June and Aaron Gillespie Forum, a local organization that collaborates with Dutchess Community College, Marist College, and Vassar College to bring to the community speakers on topics that affect quality of life.

Krugman is a professor of economics at Princeton University. He received his BA from Yale and his PhD from MIT. He also has taught at Yale, Stanford, and MIT. In 1991, Krugman received the American Economic Association's John Bates Clark Medal. In addition to his teaching, he writes extensively for non-technical audiences.
