The Vassar Repertory Dance Theatre (VRDT) will present its Final Workshop Showings, in the brand new Frances Daly Fergusson Dance Theater (Kenyon Hall). Performances are Thursday-Saturday, November 16th-18th at 8pm. Three different programs will be presented on the three nights. Admission is free but reservations are strongly recommended as it will likely sell out.
Among our offerings this year is Donald McKayle's Songs of the Disinherited. This masterpiece is a signature work by one of America's foremost African American choreographers. The dance faculty, Steve Rooks, Kathy Wildberger, Abby Saxon and Jeanne Periolat Czula have created works as well. Kathy has reworked her highly successful dramatic piece Treaty, and Jeanne Czula has restaged her classic comedy ballet, Study Break. Steve Rooks presents Angels, featuring excerpted highlights from his repertoire. Abby Saxon has collaborated with Martha Tobias to restage their classic Motown a la Mode as the company piece this year. Elizabeth Frankel '84 returns as our guest Alumna choreographer as well.
Student choreographers include Seniors Kaitlin Butler, Maya Lau, Dwayne Brown, and Liza Hoffman, as well as David Rodriguez, Leah Wilks, Cameron Lussier, and Martha Leonard. All have created highly original new works that demonstrate the range and depth of their talent.
