To culminate the Mill Street Loft's "Have a Dream Poster Contest—Student Reflections of Peter Max," selected Max-inspired art works by school children from throughout Dutchess and Ulster Counties will be exhibited in the James W. Palmer III '90 Gallery of Vassar College's College Center, from Thursday June 12 through Saturday June 21.
Over 150 pieces were submitted to the poster contest, which is tied to Peter Max receiving the Mill Street Loft's 2003 Friend of the Arts Award. An opening reception for the exhibit will be held from 4:30-6:30pm on Thursday June 12, including award presentations for 4th grade, 5th – 6th grade, 7th – 8th grade, and 9th –12th grade artists.
"Peter Max has inspired and illuminated the hearts and minds of many generations with his playful, cosmic art," said Carole Wolf, executive director of the Mill Street Loft, a multi-arts center in Poughkeepsie. "Our 'Have A Dream' contest pays tribute to his creativity, as we unite Hudson Valley youth in honoring his legacy."
