‘Reflections on the Economics of Immigration’ 5 p.m., Monday, April 14, Blanche Brumbach Spitzer Auditorium, Sanders Hall

On Monday, April 14, at 5 p.m., the Department of Economics at Vassar College will present an address, "Reflections on the Economics of Immigration," by the 2003 Martin H. Crego lecturer, George Borjas, in the Spitzer Auditorium, Sanders Hall.

Borjas has written extensively on labor market issues, and is the Robert W. Scrivner Professor of Economics and Social Policy at the John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University. He is also a Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research and the author of Heaven's Door: Immigration Policy and the American Economy (Princeton University Press, 1999).

Borjas's research on the economic impact of immigration is widely perceived as playing a central role in the debate over immigration policy in the United States and abroad. Business Week and The Wall Street Journal have called him "America's leading immigration economist." He has been featured on CNN, the PBS NewsHour with Jim Lehrer, the nightly news shows of CBS and NBC, and the Fox News Network's O'Reilly Factor, and Fox and Friends. He has also testified before several congressional committees and has been a consultant to the Office of the

Attorney General of the State of California, to the World Bank, and to law firms engaged in employment discrimination litigation. The lecture is sponsored by the Department of Economics and the Gertrude F. Zimand Fund.
