International Monetary Fund Economist to speak at Vassar College, April 9th

Prakash Loungani, economist for the International Monetary Fund, will deliver a lecture on Wednesday, April 9th, at 6 PM in Room 200 of Rockefeller Hall, at Vassar College,

The lecture, titled "IMF, World Bank, World Trade Organization: The Real Axis of Evil?" is free and open to the public. The program is cosponsored by the Economics Department and the International Studies Program.

Since 1998, Loungani has worked as an economist in various departments of the IMF, such as a contributing editor to the IMF Survey and as country analyst on the Philippines Team. Prior to that, he worked in the International Finance Division for the Federal Reserve Board, and as a senior economist with the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago.

At present, Loungani is also an adjunct professor at several universities, including the Vanderbilt University Owen School of Management, Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies, George Washington University, and American University.

Loungani's academic work has appeared in the IMF Staff Papers, the "International Journal of Forecasting," and the "Journal of Development Economics," among many other journals. Additionally, his policy-

oriented work has been frequently published in "The World Economy," "Financial Times," and the "Journal of Commerce."
