On Friday, February 21, at 8:00 p.m., the Vassar College Choir, conducted by Thomas Brand, instructor of music, will present "Music of Reflection and Jubilation" in Skinner Recital Hall. Featured works will include Palestrina's "Missa Brevis" and Bach's "Lobet den Herrn BWV 230," as well as anthems by Batten and Purcell, motets by Lasso and Stanford, and traditional spirituals. The performance will serve as the choir's send-off event for a weekend concert tour of Connecticut.
The Vassar College Choir is the college's auditioned, mixed, large choral ensemble, numbering between 40-60 voices drawn from all four classes. Mr. Brand is also organist and choirmaster of St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Cheshire, Connecticut, and founder and artistic director for the United Choir School in New Haven. He holds a BA in music and an MA in choral conducting from Yale University.
