NOTE TO EDITORS: This is a second release. This event, originally scheduled in September, was postponed.

A reception will follow at the Frances Lehman Loeb Art Center. The reading and reception are free of charge and open to the public.

The event was originally scheduled to mark the conclusion of the exhibition "Summer Reading: The Recreation of Language In Twentieth-Century Art," which ran through Sunday, September 16, in the Loeb's Prints and Drawings Galleries. Widely regarded as one of the most important poets writing in any language, Ashbery is also a respected art critic and cultural observer whose work has intersected with dozens of artists in the exhibition. Ashbery is a recipient of the Pulitzer Prize, the National Book Award, the National Book Critics Circle Award (all for "Self-Portrait in a Convex Mirror," 1975), and countless other honors. Widely regarded as one of the most important poets writing in any language, Ashbery is also a respected art critic and cultural observer. His most recent collections of poems are "Girls on the Run" (1999) and "Your Name Here' (2000).
