Community Works Fair at Vassar College, April 22

Vassar College will host a Community Works Fair in the College Center from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Monday, April 22. Representatives of local organizations supported by Vassar's Community Works Campaign will be available to discuss their work.
The Vassar College Community Works Campaign encourages employees and students to contribute to 10 agencies which serve the greater-Poughkeepsie community. The agencies selected to receive campaign proceeds from the 2001 campaign were: the September 11^th Fund, the American Cancer Society-Dutchess Unit, Dutchess Outreach, the Children's Media Project, New Horizons Resources, Battered Women's Services, the American Foundation for AIDS Research, Hudson River Housing, New Hope Community Center, and the Gay, Lesbian, and Straight Education Network. One hundred percent of the donations were divided evenly among the selected agencies.
The Community Works fund was established when the college decided not to participate in the Dutchess County United Way Campaign. United Way's support of the Boy Scouts of America conflicts with Vassar's non-discrimination policy.
