The recital program includes "Magnificat: Choral Settings of the Canticle of Mary Throughout the Ages," with works of Weelkes, Tavener, Vaughan Williams, Porpora, and J.C. Bach. The concert is sponsored by the Department of Music and is free and open to the public.

Thomas Brand, adjunct instructor of music, conducts the Vassar College Choir. Rebecca Rosenbaum, Vassar graduate of the class of 1997, directs the Vassar Women's Chorus and is the newly appointed director of choral activities.

The Vassar Women's Chorus was formed in the fall of 1997 and admits between 30 and 50 women. Last year the chorus sang at the Festival of Treble Choruses at Smith College.

This year's endeavors include a spring break singing tour of Puerto Rico.

Brand is organist and choirmaster of St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Cheshire, Connecticut. He is founder and artistic director for the United Choir School in New Haven, and holds a BA in music and an MA in choral conducting from Yale University.
