Internationally recognized soprano in concert at Vassar College, November 22

The critically acclaimed soprano Rachel Rosales will give a concert with pianist Jennifer Matthews on Friday, November 22, at 8 p.m. in the Skinner Recital Hall at Vassar College.

The recital will include musical selections of Rossini, Strauss, Rachmaninov, Turina, and Poulenc. The event, sponsored by the Vassar College Department of Music, is free and open to the public.

Rosales is an adjunct instructor of voice at Vassar College and at Fordham University. She has performed frequently on international stages, receiving an outstanding level of popular and critical acclaim for her opera, oratorio, and solo recitals.

A graduate of the Julliard School of Music, Rosales was a National Finalist in the Metropolitan Opera National council auditions. She also took first place in a major competition sponsored by the San Francisco Opera Center. Her current season is highlighted by performances of "Messiah" with the Hartford Symphony and Brahm's "Requiem" with the Fairfield County Chorale. She is also performing in the "Sacred Music in a Sacred Space' series in New York City.

Matthews is an instructor at Hunter College in New York. A graduate of the University of Western Ontario, she is now active in Hunter College's opera program and serves as a faculty accompanist. Her upcoming engagements include recital programs in New York City, Toronto, Montreal, and Newfoundland.
