Boston’s Reredos Male Vocal Ensemble comes to Vassar, January 28

The Reredos Male Vocal Ensemble, a professional Boston-based a cappella ensemble of nine men, presents a concert of European madrigals and part songs at 3 p.m. on Sunday, January 28, at Skinner Recital Hall, Vassar College. The concert is free and open to the public.

The program features a cycle of eight madrigals by Philippe de Monte, a sixteenth century Italian composer, as well as 19th and 20th century part songs from throughout Europe by Edvard Grieg, Francis Poulenc, Zoltan Kodaly, and Veljo Tormis.

The Boston Globe has described Reredos as "halfway between England's celebrated King's Singers and San Francisco's popular Chanticleer" and hailed the group as "a promising new ensemble' and its performing as "beautiful . . . illuminating." This is a cappella singing at its best.

Reredos was founded in 1999 and is directed by Charles Kamm, director of choral activities at Vassar College. Reredos features some of the finest ensemble singers in the Boston area.
