A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Chemotherapy" is the title of a presentation by Dan Shapiro, a graduate of the Vassar College class of 1988 and the author of "Mom's Marijuana." On Thursday, February 8, at 7 p.m. in the Blanche Brunback Spitzer Auditorium, Sanders Classroom Building, Shapiro, a psychologist and cancer survivor, will give a presentation based on the essays in his book and his experiences as a cancer patient.
Shapiro was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma at the age of 20 while studying at Vassar. After graduating from Vassar, he trained as a clinical health psychologist at the University of Florida and Harvard Medical School. Shapiro is now on the faculty at the University of Arizona, College of Medicine. His commentary has been featured on ABCNEWS.COM and National Public Radio's "All Things Considered."
