Wes Jackson, an internationally known plant geneticist and farmer, will speak on "Natural Systems Agriculture: A Necessarily Radical Paradigm" on Thursday, February 22, at 5:30 p.m. in Spitzer Auditorium, Sanders Classroom Building, Vassar College. The lecture is sponsored by the Program in Environmental Studies.
Jackson founded the Land Institute in Salina, Kansas in order to develop alternative crops for farmers of former prairie lands. These crops will mimic the biological diversity of the prairie and help to create a more sustainable agriculture in that region.
