Sandra Bernhard comes to Vassar College, March 29

Sandra Bernhard, a "multimedia marvel" whose accomplishments in comedy, film, television, music, and book publishing defy definition, will give a talk titled, "Because I said so…. Straight Talk from Ms. Sandra," at Vassar College on Thursday, March 29, at 8 p.m. in the Vassar Chapel.

Admission for Bernhard's performance, which is sponsored by VICE and the Queer Coalition of Vassar College, is $5 with a college identification card and $10 without. Tickets will be sold at the door only.

Bernhard recently made her Broadway debut with the smash-hit, "I'm Still Here … Damn It!," a show that prompted rave reviews and laughter. Her other big stage hit was her 1988 live one-woman show, "Without You I'm Nothing," which ran successfully for six months at New York's Orpheum Theatre. She also recently released her third book, "May I Kiss You on the Lips Miss Sandra," and has written articles for such magazines as Vanity Fair, People, Rolling Stone, Elle, and Spin, among others.

Bernhard received her first film accolades back in 1982 for her performance in Martin Scorcese's "King of Comedy." More recently, she has been seen in such films as "Track 29," "Hudson Hawk," and "Unzipped." On the small screen, she has appeared in "Chicago Hope' and "Ally McBeal," but is best known for her role as Nancy, the outspoken and fiercely independent bisexual she played on "Roseanne," from 1991 to 1996.
