Lecture on "Noncommutative Geometry for Dummies" at Vassar College, April 2

"Noncommutative Geometry for Dummies" is the subject of a talk by University of California, Berkeley, mathematics professor Vaughn Jones at 8 p.m. Monday, April 2, in Rockefeller Hall, room 300, Vassar College. Vaughn's talk is free and open to the public.

The Department of Mathematics is sponsoring the event, which is one of the Asprey Lectures in Mathematics series.

Jones is a distinguished professor of mathematics who won a Fields Medal in 1990. He was named a fellow of the Royal Society and in 1999 and he was elected to the United States National Academy of Sciences. He has edited several mathematics journals, including "Pacific Math Journal," "Advances in Mathematics," and "Russian Journal of Mathematical Physics."
