Robert Bellah to speak on “Habits of the Heart Revisited” at Vassar College, April 2

National Humanities Medal recipient Robert N. Bellah will deliver a talk titled "Habits of the Heart Revisited" at 5 p.m. on Monday, April 2, in the Villard Room, Main Building, Vassar College. Bellah's lecture, cosponsored by the departments of religion and sociology, the Program in American Culture, and the Office of the Dean of the Faculty, is free and open to the public.

Bellah is the Elliot professor of sociology emeritus at the University of California, Berkeley. His talk, part of the Wood Lecture Series, will be based on his 1995 book, "Habits of the Heart: Individualism and Commitment in American Life." He, along with four other authors, also published "The Good Society" and "A House Divided." In 2000, President Clinton awarded Bellah the National Humanities Medal.
