"Feminism is Stupid: A Conference on Doing Practical Feminist Politics" is scheduled at Vassar College on Friday, April 6, and Saturday, April 7.
The conference offers workshops, a panel discussion, a concert, and a keynote address by feminist activist Barbara Smith. Smith will speak in the Villard room , Vassar College, on Saturday, April 7, at 11:45 a.m. All of the events are free and open to the public, but reservations are necessary.
The conference begins with workshops at 5 p.m. on Friday, April 6. The first workshop session will be followed by a panel discussion at 6:15 p.m. called "Crossing Boundaries: Feminists talk across Generation." Paddy Kilrain, a feminist folk artist will perform at 9 p.m. More workshops will be offered on Saturday, both before and after Smith's lecture, "A Movement that can save our Lives: the Feminism of Women of Color." Smith, an activist and author, is the co-founder of Kitchen Table: Women of Color Press and the editor of "Home Girls: A Black Feminist Anthology."
