"A Ring of Words," a recital of English lute songs from the time of Elizabeth I, will be performed at Vassar College's Skinner Recital Hall at 3 p.m. on Sunday, October 7. The performance is free and open to the public.
The recital will feature one of the world's most celebrated countertenors, Drew Minter, lending vocals and playing the harp with local guitarist Patrick O'Brien. O'Brien, who will play the lute as well as guitar, has played everything from folk guitar to 16th century lute music in over 30 years of performing.
The two will play songs by the most celebrated composers of the era, including John Dowland, Thomas Campion, and Thomas Ford.
