In preparation for the 20th Annual Bardavon Gala Performance in March 2002, The Vassar Repertory Dance Theater (VRDT) proudly presents its 2001 Final Showings Performance. Performances of this year's works in progress is at 8 p.m. on November 15, 16 and 17, and at 3 p.m. on Sunday, November 18, in Kenyon Hall at Vassar College.
In its 20th year, the Vassar Repertory Dance Theatre gives dance students the opportunity to perform classic works from the ballet and modern repertoire as well as new choreography by faculty, guest artists, and the students themselves. By allowing students the freedom to create, develop, and present their own new dance works under the guidance of recognized artists, VRDT provides a unique dance opportunity for both the company and audience members.
This year, VRDT presents "Escargot," by the late Louis Falco, from the classical modern repertoire. This dance from 1978 was one of Falco's signature works. Falco, best remembered for his choreography in the movie "Fame," was a highly celebrated modern dancer and choreographer.
This workshop performance offers an opportunity for family, friends, and members of the community to see the choreographic process at work. Workshop performances give outlets throughout the academic year for students to perform for audiences.
