Baritone Robert Osborne will perform Franz Schubert's epic song cycle, "Winterreise," accompanied by pianist Malcolm Halliday, in Skinner Recital Hall at Vassar College on Sunday, February 4, at 8 p.m. The concert is free and open to the public.
Osborne, a member of the Vassar music faculty, has sung throughout the U.S., Europe, Russia, and Asia, and has appeared on BBC and PBS television. His opera recordings include Meredith Monk's "Atlas," Viktor Ullmann's "The Emperor of Atlantis," Hin-demith's "Hin und zuruck," and Stewart Wallace's "Kaballah." Among Osborne's recordings are the "Songs of Henry Cowell" and Shostakovich's "Robert Burns Orchestral Songs." With an operatic repertoire of more than 30 roles, Osborne has sung with opera companies in Berlin, Paris, Houston, Pittsburgh, Los Angeles, Santa Fe, and New York. Halliday's recordings include "Sowerby: Music for Piano" on Albany Records.
