Lisa Kron to perform “2.5 Minute Ride’ at Vassar College, April 10

Obie Award winner, Lisa Kron, will present her solo dramatic performance "2.5 Minute Ride" in Avery Theatre at Vassar College at 7 p.m. on Monday, April 10. The show is free and open to the public.

In "2.5 Minute Ride" Kron takes her audience on a roller coaster ride through the Kron family album. Switching back and forth between her journey with her father, a Holocaust survivor, to Auschwitz; her Michigan family's annual pilgrimage to the Cedar Point Amusement park in Ohio; and her brother's engagement and subsequent marriage to his Internet bride. Holding it all together is Lisa's attempt to come to grips with the mortality of her father while bridging the gaps between the mythic and the real, the absurdities and quirks of everyday life, and her second-hand memories of the destroyed world of her father. Kron demonstrates with disarming simplicity that humor and horror can share the same human moment.

Kron is a founding member of the Obie and Bessie Award winning theater company, the Five Lesbian Brothers, whose plays include, "The Secretaries," "Brave Smiles," and "Brides of the Moon." Kron has been writing and performing solo work for the past 14 years. She has appeared as an actress in Paul Rudnick's "The Most Fabulous Story Ever Told" and in Paul Vogel's "The Mineola Twins."
