The Vassar Jazz Ensemble will perform on Thursday, April 27, at 8 p.m. at Skinner Recital Hall. The concert is free and open to the public. The concert will feature the big band music of Thelonius Monk, Duke Ellington, Rob McConnell, and others. Student vocalists Abby Fischer, Vassar class of 2001, and Jon Tuzo, Vassar class of 2002, will be featured, along with several instrumentalists.
Senior soloists include Tim Jaw, Rob Suss, and Greg Morisse. The 23-piece jazz ensemble is under the direction of James Osborne, classical and jazz trumpeter, and member of the Vassar College music faculty. Osborne has performed with the Hudson Valley Philharmonic, the Philharmonic Brass Quintet, the Vassar College Orchestra, and his own dance band Heart & Soul.
