May 10 deadline for a piano workshop at Vassar College is fast approaching

Applications for a Piano Workshop at Vassar College will be accepted until Wednesday, May 10. The six-day program for pianists will run from June 4-10. Each student will participate in daily master classes and have an opportunity to perform in a gala concert. In addition, they will receive two private coaching sessions, with Blanca Uribe and Todd Crow, both members of the Vassar College music faculty. The Office of Conferences and Summer Programs at Vassar sponsors the program. Professor Uribe, a native of Columbia, is noted for her interpretations of the complete Iberia Suite of Isaac Albeniz and the 32 Sonatas of Beethoven, which she performed on several occasions in South America and at Vassar, where she holds the George Sherman Dickinson Professorship. Uribe also enjoys a busy performing career appearing with such orchestras as the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Philharmonia of London, the American Symphony, and the Residentie Orkest in The Hague.

Professor Crow performs regularly in the major halls of London and New York and is heard frequently on the BBC Radio. He is the music director of the Mount Desert Festival of Chamber Music in Northeast Harbor, Maine, now in its 37th season. Crow has also appeared as a soloist with orchestras in the United States, England, the Czech Republic, Venezuela, and in recital or chamber music performances the at Metropolitan Museum of Art, Washington's National Gallery of Art, and Lincoln Center's Avery Fisher Hall, to name only a few. There is no age limit, but enrollment is restricted to 10 pianists.

Cost of the program is $650, which includes instruction, room, board, and use of the Vassar College facilities. Applications must be accompanied by a $50 non-refundable application fee, which will be applied toward full payment if accepted
