Faculty and guests of the Vassar College Department of Music will present the fifth annual summer concert series, featuring both chamber music and jazz in the newly air-conditioned Skinner Recital Hall on the Vassar campus.
All concerts begin at 8 p.m. and are free and open to the public.
On Wednesday, June 28, pianist Thomas Sauer will be joined by violinist Sunghae Anna Lim in a program that includes Beethoven's Violin Sonata in D, his Piano Sonata in D minor ("The Tempest") and shorter works by Chopin, Smetana, Wolpe, and Pärt.
On Wednesday, July 5, pianist Todd Crow will be joined by violinist Laurie Smukler, violist Ira Weller, and cellist Mark Shuman in a program that includes Beethoven's Cello Sonata in D major and Faure's Piano Quartet in C minor.
On Wednesday, July 12, composer and pianist Richard Wilson will collaborate with violinist Rolf Schulte and cellist Dorothy Lawson in trios by Beethoven and Schubert. Schulte and Lawson will also perform Wilson's Music for Violin and Cello.
On Saturday, July 29, Brian Mann and Friends will present an evening of jazz.
Sauer, Crow, Wilson, and Mann are on the Vassar College music faculty.
