Frank Wood, the originator of the Tony Award-winning lead role in "Side Man," which premiered at Vassar in 1996, returns this season in Susan Miller's "A Map of Doubt and Rescue." This Vassar / New York Stage and Film special presentation runs from June 30 through July 2 in the Susan Stein Shiva Theater at Vassar College.
In "A Map of Doubt and Rescue," lives intersect in seemingly random ways - from a small-town newspaper office to a Hollywood studio - revealing the mystery of how we are all connected. Judy Minor will direct this evocative new drama from the Obie-winning author of "My Left Breast."
Miller, who also won an Obie Award for "Nasty Rumors and Final Remarks," has worked at the Public Theater, Second Stage, Mark Taper Forum, Trinity Rep, and Naked Angels, among many others. She wrote the film "Blessing in Disguise" for Warner Brothers and the screenplay "Lady Beware."
Minor's credits include "Fishes" by Diana Son, "In the Western Garden" at EST, "Prophet in Limbo" at the Public Theater, and "Damaged Beyond Repair" at Soho Rep. She returns to Powerhouse this season having directed last summer's
Powerhouse Theater production of "Gramercy Park is Closed to the Public" by Toni Ann Johnson.
Wood, the 1999 Tony winner for Best Featured Actor in a Play and a 1999 Drama League Award Winner, has performed in film and on television, in London, New York, and in regional theaters around the country.
