Pianist Thomas Sauer to perform at Vassar, October 27

Noted pianist Thomas Sauer will perform works by Haydn, Chopin, Debussy, and Birtwistle on Friday, October 27, at 8 p.m. in Skinner Recital Hall at Vassar College. The concert is free and open to the public.

Selections will include "Sonata in B-flat Major" and "Piece for Musical Clock in G Major" by Joseph Haydn, as well as "Three Mazurkas" and "Étude in F Minor," by Frédérick Chopin.

Sauer's "eloquent" piano playing, as stated by a review in the New York Times, has been heard in collaboration with noted violinist Midori, at the Philharmonie in Berlin and the Palais de Beaux Arts in Brussels. Sauer has also performed with violinist Misha Amory and cellist Colin Carr, as well as the Julliard String Quartet at the Library of Congress. Sauer also plays with chamber groups, such as the Brentano String Quartet.

A visiting assistant professor of music at Vassar College, Sauer is also a member of the piano faculty of the Mannes College of Music in New York City.
