Expert to speak on emotion and learning at Vassar College, December

Priscilla L. Vail, a nationally recognized expert in the fields of education and learning disabilities will speak about the relationship between emotion and learning on Tuesday, December 5, at 5:30 p.m. Her lecture, "Emotion: the On/Off Switch for Learning in Young People and Adults" will be in the Villard Room, Main Building, Vassar College.

The talk is free and open to the public. It is sponsored by the Office of Disability and Support Services.

Vail is a learning specialist, consultant, and author whose work centers on the identification of different learning styles and accommodation in the classroom, small groups, individual work, and at home. She is a founding trustee of the Fisher Landau Foundation for gifted learning disabled students, and a guest speaker on National Public Radio, Nickelodeon, TV-PBS, and the BBC. Vail is the author of several books including, "Smart Kids with School Problems," "The World of the Gifted Child," "About Dyslexia: Unraveling Myths," and "Words Fail Me! How Language Works and What Happens When it Doesn't."
